The Fall 2014 Bridal shows are underway and we are seeing some fabulous new trends – pushing away from the lace columns into a very sculptural era. Badgley Mischka delivered dresses that were clean, modern and sharp, and yet infinitely soft and romantic at the same time. Elements of 1920’s style beading in gold and pearl adorned ivory and gold-hued gowns.
For Vera Wang, we were delivered a little girl’s dreamhouse of Barbie and cotton candy hued gowns, with floral embellishments and ruffled layers. The inspiration from ‘Gentlemen Prefer Blondes’ is strongly apparent, and one can imagine coiffed curls and elbow length satin gloves in this rainbow of pink glossiness.
Monique Lhuillier embraced the short n’ sweet concept, appealing to the great contingent of brides who dream of nuptials on a beach in Antigua, or in a vineyard in the South of France. Their full length gowns were sweeping and very royal, with nipped in waists and full skirts featuring lace applique or dramatic draping.
